Lei-Lani, Princess Pier, Port Melbourne, Bunorung Country
When I was ten years old, I put on my first pair of skates in Compton, California. I would skate my neighbourhood streets and occasionally at my local rink Skateland USA.
I spent the nineties rollerblading Bondi Beach with my best mate. We’d head down every sunny afternoon around 4 pm. It was the best time to spot cute surfers.
Around 2014, I discovered Rollerfit, and I’ve been on my skates ever since. I’m an old school skater; it brings me joy. I do it for fitness, fun, and to make great friends. I like to skate on basketball courts both inside and out. When the day is perfect, I want to head to the pier for a skate. The surface is great to skate on, and the background is perfect.
Skating, for me, isn’t about the latest trends. For me, skating is cultural; it’s about finding the groove and trying to create my style. I don’t want to skate like anyone else; I like to skate like myself and push myself past my limits. It’s also a great way to stay fit.
For outdoor skating, I use Moxi Lollies with a Roll-Line Mistral plate. I use Riedell 330 in pink with a Roll-Line dance plate for indoors.
